Welcome to the April edition of 'The Lookout'

Welcome to  the April edition of ‘The Lookout’, bringing you a global perspective on issues that matter. In this edition, we pay tribute to Secretary Madeleine Korbel Albright, former Trustee of the Aspen Institute and founder of the Aspen Ministers Forum (AMF). Our chair and co-patron, Sir Don McKinnon is attending her funeral on 27th April, in Washington D.C.

"From first meeting Madeleine in January 1993, when we were both on the UN Security Council, I knew I was in the presence of a very special person. She had wrapped her huge intellect around all the issues of the day and the ones still emerging. We, at the AMF, will all miss her very much, her values, her intellect, her energy, her warmth and sense of humour."

On Wednesday 21th April we are holding a live online conversation with our partner, Aspen Institute Kyiv on 'Ukraine's Defense of Freedom'. We will hear from Executive Director, Yuliya Tychkiviska, and experts from Ukraine, moderated by Sir Don McKinnon, on their first hand experience of this horrendous war, and how we can make a difference. We encourage everyone to spread the word and have your questions ready.

If you have not already registered, join us for Demographic Challenges: Critical Thinking and Values based Leadership seminar on 27th and 28th April with moderators Neil Jacobstein (Singularity University), Prof. Alan Gamlen (ANU) and Distinguished Prof. Paul Spoonley (Massey University). New Zealand needs a population plan, based on informed thinking and representative of our community. The time is now.

You will also find the usual hand-picked selection of in-depth analysis, moderated discussions, event invitations and prize-winning publications from a range of international viewpoints.  We invite you to curate your own content in a way that works for you and share it with your friends.  We hope you enjoy it.
