Welcome to the March 2024 edition of 'The Lookout'
Kia ora koutou
Welcome to The Lookout, bringing you a global perspective on issues that matter.
In this edition, we put In Focus the upcoming visits from the Aspen Council and the Aspen Institute, highlighting the opportunities these offer our community here in New Zealand.
Leadership in Action reviews our recent forum on Navigating the Digital Frontier, with our partner Ananta Aspen in India, which showcased a wide range of prospects for tech businesses and entrepreneurs in both countries.
Followed by two In Depth pieces; the first a report on why Investors Want to Know Your Sustainability Case, including what are the key elements of a successful Sustainability Business Case. The second article explores Sir Geoffrey Palmer's essay on The Novel Evolution of MMP under the Luxon Government, discussing the intricacies and implications of this unique arrangement.
Coming up, we are excited to welcome members of the Aspen Council and the Aspen Institute, Executive VP, Cristal Logan and Executive Director, Judy Samuelson to Queenstown after a long hiatus. Together with the Queenstown Chamber, we are hosting an Aspen Sister City Business Lunch: Prosperity through Partnership, with myself as the moderator. Followed by our inaugural Socrates Seminar, The Future of Business - How to Create Real Value in a Changing World to be held in May in Queenstown. Judy is renowned for having her 'finger on the pulse' of the latest business trends in the U.S. and internationally. The discussion will be highly relevant to all business in NZ as we grapple with sustainability and value. Later in May, our new Evidence and Values Based Decision Making Course, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Education Trust, being run exclusively for all Members of Parliaments in Wellington.
