Roundtable with U.S. Embassy Counsellor, Nicholas Snyder

On Thursday 10th December we had the pleasure of hosting an ‘off-the-record’ roundtable in Queenstown with Nicholas Snyder, Political and Economic Counsellor, at the U.S. Embassy in Wellington on:

The future of United States relations with New Zealand, Asia and its Indo-Pacific Strategy.

Nick Snyder has previously served in Singapore, Beijing, and on the U.S. National Security Council as a North Asia specialist. Nick took up his post in New Zealand 5 months ago and it was his first visit to Queenstown.

Nick shared some opening remarks before Q & A on topics as diverse as trade relationships & agreements, the recent elections,  connections with Antarctica through New Zealand, and other aspects of New Zealand’s relationship with the United States.

It is the second visit from the U.S. Embassy Wellington this year. In June we hosted the US Ambassador to New Zealand, Scott Brown and his wife Gail , who are now in the final days of their posting. We wish them well on their new endeavours in Boston and look forward to further enhancing Aspen New Zealand and U.S. Embassy ties in 2021.
