A virtual, cross-disciplinary conversation that will consider how to advance the emerging field of neuroarts. This is the study of how aesthetic experiences and the arts measurably change the brain and body and how this knowledge is translated into practices that advance health and well-being. This Zoom conversation is scheduled for:
Wednesday 3 February 2021 from 9-11am NZST
Ruth Katz, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute’s Health, Medicine and Society Program has invited The Aspen Institute New Zealand to bring together 6-8 New Zealand arts practitioners and other experts to join the conversation with her Project team and Advisory Board members as they build an evidence base for the NeuroArts Blueprint. The NeuroArts Blueprint is a partnership between the US-based Aspen Institute’s Health, Medicine and Society Program and the Johns Hopkins International Arts + Mind Lab Center for Applied Neuroaesthetics.
Alan Weil, editor-in-chief of Health Affairs, the leading US publication in Health policy research, will serve as moderator.
This event follows a series of sector-specific virtual convenings that have already taken place. The first brought researchers together and the second was a conversation among arts practitioners. Subsequent convenings focused on the policy and funding dimensions of neuroarts, while technology and communications are to be explored in the coming weeks. By joining a conversation with experts across sectors, you will be adding to the base of knowledge about a field at the crossroads of science, technology, and the arts.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute a New Zealand perspective to an area of investigation that will strengthen understanding and practice for years to come.
Please note this workshop is FULL.
